my paperwork for the homeowners affordability modification was submitted several months ago to wachovia, and has now been transferred to wells fargo since they took over. a rep from wells fargo told me yesterday that i might want to inquire about refinancing instead of modification (i haven't missed any payments but am sliding down the financial hill rapidly), because any loan modification will impact my credit report, and show up as a default or partial default. is that true?
